AVI - T3 (10mcg; Tablets)

AVI - T3 is a prescription medicine used in the management of Underactive Thyroid (Hypothyroidism ; Clinical and Subclinical). This is used singly or in combination with T4 (Levothyroxine).

AVI - T3 tablet replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally made by the thyroid gland. Low Thyroid hormone levels can occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiations/medications or removed by surgery. AVI-T3 tablet is specifically used in the patients whose thyroid hormones level are not getting optimum or who are not getting enough symptomatic relief with supplementation of only T4 (Levothyroxine). Thyroid hormones are important for almost every metabolic, catabolic, thermoregulatory, reproductive and other homeostatic mechanisms for the body. Optimum thyroid hormones level is required for growth of Brain and Body and also required for the optimum reproductive potention. The action of many other hormones and neurotransmitters require optimum thyroid hormones level in the body.

Tablet AVI - T3 should be taken by mouth as directed by your doctor. It is best to take it as same time each day for the best benefit. Do not stop taking it without first talking to your doctor. Thyroid Replacement Treatment is usually taken for life. The dosage is based on your medical condition, age, lab results and response to treatment. Certain medications (like antacids, Iron etc) can decrease the absorption of tablet AVI-T3. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need it to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablet as whole with a drink of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. You should not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medicine should not be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor.

Some common side effects of this medicine include Palpitations, Anxiety, Sweating, Headache, Hair loss, Weight loss, Diarrhea, Menstrual changes, Fatigue, Insomnia. It can rarely cause allergy.

Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are suffering from any liver or kidney problems. You should avoid smoking and alcohol while using this medicine. Pregnant and Breast feeding mothers should consult their doctor before using it.
